  • A while back I had the opportunity to sit down with a very relevant & quite interesting individual. Many of you may be familiar with Tedy Brewski, a few of you might not, so I suggest the two of you get familiar. The artist musician/producer Tedy Brewksi is hailing from Michigan, but origins suggest he fell out of his mother somewhere in Hartford, Connecticut. A black rapper, a black artist. A revolutionary to the punk / hip hop genre, creating a unique realm for his sound, and visual counterpart for himself. If you follow his music, you may have been aware that since 2012 he has been really rocking the public microphone. Taunting society with a new release about every year Give or take when he has used Monikers to drop additional material on us. Take a look below at his most recents, and spend sometime listening to his material, you wont be disappointed. I promise.

NN: Let me start by asking how you are, and what you have been doing for the past two months ?

Tedy Brewski: I’m doing pretty good, in an optimistic mood about the future. In the past two months I’ve just been working part time and making new tunes. I’m a substitute teacher I just sit there and surf the net lolol. After work I usually either do recording sessions for my boys or veg out. Life is cool tho no complaints. Right now we are in the dead of the winter, everyday in the suburbs is shoveling and ice chipping, life kinda sucks but its cool too. I’m chillin.

NN: What came of the end of 2014 for you ?

Tedy Brewski: At the end of 2014, (around Thanksgiving) I put out this album called Black Friday under the alias Typical Black Punks. It’s an experimental album, a huge jumble of modern sound with genres from the past.

Black Friday is a record by Connecticut-based artist Tedy Brewski released under the monikerTypical Black Punks. The name, a double entendre, denotes a concerted effort on Tedy’s part to create music that was influenced by the punk music he’d been listening to of late, as well as explicitly convey the project’s theme of race in the United States.”

“The record doesn’t look back to punk music, it circles back around in time and then time-warps back to the present forcing the past to come with it.”

NN: What plans have you made since then for your music, or your art ?

Tedy Brewski: Right now its early in 2015, I’m getting back into the internet scene and trying to work with as many artists as possible in order to grow artistically and reach new audiences.

NN: Albums, Possible Video Release Dates ?

Tedy Brewski: I think my next one is going to be called Wipe Out Mixtape. I’ve done a bunch of random songs over the past month and I wanna bring back some wavy shit once the weather gets nicer. Most of the time my albums have some kind of cohesive story or theme. What I have right now is random as hell. I’ve been building a team locally in Connecticut with some friends and we plan on putting out a bunch of videos. Its interesting because I became such an internet based artist because my local scene was so weak when I first started making music. Over the last year the local scene has grown so much it’s exciting to see inspired creative people going in.

NN: Do you plan on traveling , or touring within this year ?

Tedy Brewski: It’s all about connections and whether the stars align. It wouldn’t be surprising if I do some shows in New York and DC this spring and summer. I’m currently located in Connecticut and I want to help build this scene. I’m really open to anything and I want to work with anyone who is down. Realistically, I could probably use a larger following before I can start touring seriously. I’m actively seeking management so we can turn up to a new level. Regardless, I’ve got a pretty flexible schedule and performing is in the game plan just no confirmed shows at this moment.

NN: What was the last most important work that you completed – How well do you believe it was received ?

Tedy Brewski: Typical Black Punks was my last project and maybe my most important. Musically it challenges everything you would expect from some random internet rapper. Socially the project crosses cultural boundaries and tackles political issues. I think it was pretty well received. Most people dug it. I was disappointed no one really challenged me about my stance on some issues. I’m going to try harder next time to piss people off. I think its one of those projects that people will slowly stumble on to.

NN: When you began your project, did you expect the turn out you have received so far ?

Tedy Brewski: I really didn’t know what to expect. I figured some people would be like wtf is this and turn it off. I think I’ve got a core fanbase who are just down for whatever I do and then there are the people who are still not convinced. If I can get ten, fifty or a hundred new people who are down with me with whatever I put out then I am happy as fuck.

NN: When did you know you wanted to begin this project ?

Tedy Brewski: I made a song called Lost In The Wave under the alias Typical Black Punks in like 2012. I wrote it off as just some one time thing. At some point in 2014 my friend Black Kray put out this remix of Boys Don’t Cry by The Cure and I was like damn people really wanna hear this kinda shit. So after that I was hell yea I gotta try and do this album but I still didn’t do it. Later on in the year I had this really shitty job and I was like fuck this and I stopped going to work and I just made that shit in like a month. Shit was hella fun got intense, learned about alot of music and payed homage to hella counter culture.

    TEDY

NN: What do you want to convey, or what have you also found that you do convey in frequently in your materials ?

Tedy Brewski: I want to let people know that they can do whatever the fuck they want if they put in the work. I wasn’t born some musical prodigy, I can’t play any instruments with proficiency but I have a dedication to going ham. Like if you listen to my music and think I’m mad good thats only cuz I’ve spent mad hours going ham and I’m sure you can do the same at whatever you choose. I hope that that message is being conveyed with my music.

NN: What reflects the least, what should be focusing on ?

Tedy Brewski: My goal is to uplift people and bring people together. I might say some ratch shit or sum non conscious shit sometimes but the end goal is self understanding and spiritual growth and hippy shit like dat.

NN: How many releases have you successfully produced ?

Tedy Brewski: I started putting out mixtapes and albums in 2010. Since then I have put out 10 releases that I can think of. The last two were entirely produced by me which is an awesome feeling. There would probably be more albums and mixtapes but some of the ideas just fall apart during the creative process.

NN: How do you feel being called a #NVRMNDKID or that you’re one of the #NVRMNDCRU ?

Tedy Brewski: A #NVRMNDKID is probably someone who is open-minded and willing to experiment. Someone who is sexy as fuck with hella steeze so yea I’m cool with being a #NVRMNDKID. I’m lovin’ the CRU. Much love ya’ll.

    Peace signs and Dollar signs.

  • Just 5 days until Noah 23 drops this massive release he has been hinting toward via his social media, down below we have an unbelievable track listing. Its 33 tracks long, and regardless how ethereal that is alone, its unheard of really for this many artists to be on this tape at once!  Set to release this coming Saturday, the 23rd. Noah 23 along side the onslaught of artists on this monumental feature. Witch may very well break the game. fortunately. Any zag we pull down into the neither world to listen to this may jeopardize the upper crust of mainstream culture, causing a shift into this Void Wave masterpiece.

  • TIMTONIK (Producer/DJ) lit the internet on fire when he landed his lamborghini Death Star on  the NVR MND soundcloud (two nights ago…)

Dialing us down of that bullsh*t & onto another masterpiece of his, a preview of what is come in his later release of the EP called “PURGATORY”; including 4 Tracks. starts with a brand new track of mine called “Deep Dark Drone”] A video will be premiered at a later date, stay tune for an update once that information is revealed. What do I have to say about it, Nothing more than you would conjure from the experience from you just listened to the damn thing! It is so slick & dark   –  but has a very comforting vibration in a sense. That sense being, instead of cold/wet youre getting warm/wet; at the same time. The waves hover all over you. I think this is by far one of my all-time favorite NVRM1X’s; produced by TIMTONIK. seriously a glimpse into Alien Tech (AT).

    11212224_851859034889017_5386866_n

It’s imaginative, the first emissions aren’t so predictable, to instigate any feelings of nostalgic Tech House. Well I say that, but with a grain of salt if you’re an enthusiast. The spectrum these days has definitely changed since its beginnings, but what some of us refer to as “old heads”, are a pedigree & cultural those personality types are still functioning models of society.

Those of you whom I’m speaking of are already activated enough to enjoy this mix. It’s an experiential stain on the minds of those who enjoy a hypnotic & trance like dancing experience. Steam evaporates from the symbols, as the bass of your feet stomping the ground in an ethereal orgasmic tension. Never wanting to stop, as music turns into an alarming of deliberate movements to exhume oneself from their prisons.

A NVR MND Moment from TIMTONIK

TIMTONIK:  “…Also there is coming an Teaser for my upcoming music video…”

“This music video which is set to release, come end of June/July on VOXNOX Records

“The EP is called PURGATORY; including 4 Tracks. starts with a brand new track of mine called “Deep Dark Drone, which will be released soon on the voxnox records compilation. At the end (50:00 – 50:08) you can hear the first chords of an upcoming freedownload of mine; which is called [Sound of Silence]…”

“…Another thing about the Mix is that this mix is slightly different to my own mixtape series Future Death Tape. It’s an more Dark Deep Techno – After Hour Set, which should show that my music will become even more darker and deeper. It only includes music i personally prefer and i would play those tracks on afterhour gigs. But I will still continue my FDT series with that dark future techno music. And, I as Tim Tonik will also produce that kind of music , but also that new deep and dark [stuff]….”

White Fire Og also known as WiFi Og; a hybrid strain. With the medicinal marijuana compound of “Wif”. This strain is a combination of Fire Og & Krome’s The White Og; described as a 60% sativa hybrid.

Upon smoking this hybrid you will experience a positive flux of relaxed & recondite waves during your high.  The hybrid, offers a very euphoric, happy, uplifting, relaxing, and more than not creative experience. For medical purposes it could be used to ease ones stress, help fight against depression, equally an aid for some physical pain, partial headache restoration, and slightly less in terms of fatigue.

It is quite aromatic, which means its can easily be smelled over five feet away from an individual carrying it on their person. It’s sweet smelling, incredibly pungent and, earthy. I recommend for anyone who enjoys a diesel – y – outdoorsy smoke. I prefer calling it, WiFi Og, more than I do White Fire Og (fuck me, right). The opportunity to burn that bridge, so to speak has yet to be crossed, by I am eager to do so.  The strains its similar to are Indica’s which I find odd, and aside from Sensei Star, I have yet to try, just yet!

White Fire Og (or Wifi Og) is a beautiful hybrid sativa, I have seen two variations of this strain, the other is  slightly frosted than this particular strain under review. The amount of trichomes on this sativa is really incredible.

The strain won 20Th Place in the The Emerald Cup, in 2013. Entered as number: 260. White Fire OG Kush. With “unspecified genetics“. By a representative of a company named Kush Industries, located in Orange County, California. The stats indicate, in 2013 seemed to be quite a bit lower, than those in 2015, about a 5% increase in the THC counts; THC: 25.10% (2013) vs 30.0+ (2015), CBD: 0.22% (2013) *2015 Unknown. Although, they could not describe or decide what effects the strain yield, the judges merely commented, “Sharp Pine Smell, ‘Kushy’ Deliciousness, BIG EXPANSION, IM HIGH AS SH*T

It isn’t often for some to meet people whom they have first come into contact with over social media or internet service providers, but it is becoming so.

I first became acquainted with Phyllis Josefine over such a platform (most of us are familiar with, FB). She intrigued me, but this is even prior to having spoken with or to her; so is that to suggest I could possibly posses a heightened sense of (strong) energies around me, or am I just more inclined to tap into that ability to detect another. Whatever the case may be, Phyllis Josefine has got immense prolific power pouring out of her words, as well as her deeds. A goddess, she is willing for the world to embrace her, as she does it. A diamond in the rough, but not so rough around the edges – This gemstone, Ms. Josefine.

                                                                                                                   CC: Thomas Lecheler

NN: Phyllis, can you tell me a little bit about yourself, where you’re from and how old you are ?

Phyllis Josefine: I am living in Germany, 22 is my age they say. i always lived a creative life, but my complete change happened at 19. thinking more about how to open all the borders that I (sub)consciously established. i am already in a higher estate. About me: I am the wind and the particles, you want to catch. i am a bit water, and i am the wire in between you and me. i am a bit earth, for i am grounded, and i am all the contradictions of whatever i told already.

NN: What’s something that has been on your mind lately ?

Phyllis Josefine: How can I deal with my fears in the best way. i do not know when another war will start here. I fear, I cannot say that it’s in the distance anymore. People live here as if everything is alright, and I really do not know how to react to their oblivious behavior. The media is keeping its mouth shut. The euro is depreciating immensely, many banks are crashing down, the war draws nearer from Russia soil. The most important part for me is now, to offer positivity, to show an alternative perspective, present our options differently, to see it for what it is, something worth saving – rather than destroying. That is what I have always tried to express with my music. Overwhelm the fears with my sound. I try at least, to make a minus into a plus.

NN: Why did you come to NYC, is this your first time being here ?

Phyllis Josefine: I came here to meet a lot of internet friends/artists, i never saw IRL, but especially i came here to see Orrin. My love living oversea in NYC. Lets say, this is my first time realizing this culture.

NN: What makes you one of the individuals included in the #NVRMNDKIDZ collective ?

    Phyllis Josefine: I am Zero-Minded.

NN: What does Zero-Minded mean ?

Phyllis Josepfne So, what Zero-Minded means to me is, I posses the ability to feel the way in which I would like to go psychically or spiritually, these senses are in-tune with my physical consciousness, I feel or I sense where I am going to go next.

… also that with being Zero-Minded we have more mental strength in our body than just the mind, our spiritual heart is another one. Almost an organism in itself, working with others, like influences. It can teach you, by telling you more than you think, while you learn to embrace the emptiness of your mind, then allowing yourself the will to understand the other mental strengths of your body, as well as the soul. It is the one that feels the whole, not influenced by exterior human systems.

                                                                                                                 CC: Stefanie Heinzeller

NN: You are a musician ?

Phyllis Josefine: No, music is more a diary for me. i see borders in all the media we have yet. its not enough to fulfill the attention of the new generation. i want more than music, video, photography or whatever i already was playing with. when i don’t express myself into every possible side, i feel creatively limited. i want to and i need to do waves/music. everything we perceive can be seen in waves, so music is the new border i am overwhelming. our body is expressing so many things everyday, he is talking with every move he is doing. i want to control them and make them to an experience. dada

    NN: When did you begin the project D A D A ?

Phyllis Josefine: It was beginning in December 2014, the first track on this “album”  was indeed my first track I ever made, so they all chronically made within the last months.  I don’t see it as an album, more a diary, and I do things whenever i feel like i should.

What sort of equipment are you playing on ?

Phyllis Josefine: I play with ableton, my little keyboard, my voice, after effects, final cut, and my mind *wink face*

NN: You are also a model, correct ?

Phyllis Josefine: Not really, i am mostly modeling for friends, or when someone asks me. I just like pictures, and i am honest that i appreciate my being. some cute little labels took me to model for them, but i really don’t take that business serious.

NN: What exactly do you do?

Phyllis Josefine: Its not exactly is so easy to answer that. Yes, I model in certain occasions. I am also a videographer, & digital graphic assassin, although right now i am laying out the design of the GOLDMUNDT website, & our newest collection. So at the moment the most of my energy goes into GOLDMUNDT.

    CC: Thomas Lecheler

NN: when do you begin creatively thinking in all these fields ? I have heard rumors of a collection you’re currently creating with a partner (whom) called Goldmundt. Can you explain that to me a bit further ?

Phyllis Josefine: i actually think about those fields all the time. Trying to expand borders, always trying to connect things and fields of myself and others.

GOLDMUNDT. is a big part of me, also I am the Creative Director. Alexander, a friend of mine founded it in 2012, and i am part of it since 2013. I was doing all recent Lookbook photography from the start and i am communicating with our collaborating artists , after choosing them. To that I am creating a  layout for the website. The website is already coming to life, we are so excited to release it. I also did a video for our first collection, a year ago. I really invest a lot of love and time into this project. It will flourish soon.

GOLDMUNDT. is doing all-over-print shirts, sweaters & possibly bags, in near future. With our new collection we are working with artists from around the world (Russia, Brasilia, Germany, NYC etc). This will build a step to connect us to a lot of creative minds alike and to do lovely collaborations with them. – Phyllis Josefine

    CC: Thomas Lecheler

GOLDMUNDT. stands for art, collaboration interdisciplinary and community. We do not want to work as a self-working label, incapable of reaching out. we want to build a network of artists and interested people to build sth bigger. we welcome everyone who finds a way to get in touch with us positively and are always open for ideas. The idea of GOLDMUNDT. evolved from a small scribble book somewhere in Bavaria, and became a project of Alexander. The founder of GOLDMUNDT.

NN: Care to share some of your philosophical side with us ?

Phyllis Josefine: My philosophy is me not being an object, a whole you can find and it stays. we all a process, in the now we are something, something that human describe as something, but nothing stays. our cells die and renew, everything of us and around us is a process of a big whole, that also has another big process in another big whole. My strength is being able to adopt the “new” finding new inches and ways to make something out of it. I will not be the being you know in a few months. some things stay, but I will not promise anything and will not promise at all. I feel the way. thats what I also mean with zero-minded. we have more brains in our body than just the mind, our heart is another one. an organism in itself, working with other influences. It can teach you and tell you more than you think. Learn to embrace emptiness of your mind and you will understand the other brains of your body. the soul. It’s the one that feels the whole, non-influenced by human systems.
